Natural Beauties
I’ve been doing a lot of gardening lately. I’ll have more pictures shortly of our new vegetable garden (which will hopefully stay ground hog free) and some flower beds I’ve planted. But for now, enjoy my beautiful purple irises (above). They always remind me of my “Nanny” (grandmother on my mom’s side). I can still remember the tall, stately irises that were at her house.
Then there’s my pansies. I love little pansy faces, all soft and velvety. These I put in a hanging vase that’s on my deck. The whimsical little vase was used with others as decoration when I got married, almost four years ago now.
These pansies I put on a little bench on my porch at the front door to welcome visitors. Now they welcome you as visitors to this blog! What are your favorite flowers and why?

I wouldn’t use to say this, but I love roses. They are so fragrant and beautiful. I used to not like them at all, but for some reason they have grown on me big time
I have a mini-rose bush in a pot on my front stoop and it’s just beautiful. I will take a picture and post it I think. I’m just “coming in” to my love of flowers, plants and gardening. I have a lot to learn yet but am very excited. It’s quite an addicting hobby to have! I love roses because you can pretty much put them anywhere and they bloom on and off from Spring to Fall.
Irises are hands-down, my favorite flower. Yours are just beautiful. I planted iris bulbs in the front of our house back in MD, and I’ve been wondering how they are doing. I feel like having a friend do a drive-by photo shoot of my flower garden!! My garden here is amazing, but it’s just not the same as one you’ve planted yourself.
So glad you’re enjoying your gardens this year, what with all the construction and newborn babies being behind you.
Your irises are gorgeous!
My favorite flower is the stargazer lily, for its beautiful form and color, but it is not one of the better smellers and is expensive so I rarely have them around. I am really loving my flower garden this year, as up popped yellow daylilies, purple clematis, lavendar bachelor buttons, purple salvia, pale pink coral bells, and salmon colored roses. The roses haven’t done well because of bugs eating their leaves. Any idea what I can do to make them rebloom?
Sorry Zoanna, I don’t know much about roses! I only have one and am only just trying to learn about them . . .
