That’s Entertainment!
One of the most wonderful things about our trip was being able to sleep, read, and watching movies late on chilly nights during the week.
Josh read Humility: True Greatness by C.J. Mahaney and The Secret Life of Lobsters which he said was very interesting. It’s non-fiction that combines science, history, and lively writing.
I read the charming, funny, and enlightening non-fiction memoir called Almost French by Sarah Turnbull, which is about a young Australian woman’s cultural initiation into Parisian culture and life. It was fascinating to discover Paris’ seemingly peculiar (to my American sensibilities) social customs.
As far as movies went, we watched one of our all-time favorites, Gladiator, and watched Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon for the first time. We weren’t sure if we would like it–Josh especially–but we were hooked in 10 minutes. It was a beautiful and interesting movie. We both actually really loved it! Watching the behind the scenes stuff was fascinating too.
Sounds like a nice relaxing vacation. I will have to check out the Almost French book….sound good.
